From Airport to Makuhari | From Tokyo to Makuhari | To reach the Congress Venue


Directions

Both Kanda University of International Studies and Makuhari Messe are located in New Urban City Makuhari, which is located along Tokyo Bay, exactly halfway between Tokyo Station and Narita International Airport.

From Airport to Makuhari

Buses and trains can be taken from Narita International Airport to Makuhari.
The bus is the simplest option from Narita Airport. There is a direct bus service from Narita which takes approximately 30 minutes: Keisei Highway Bus.
Take the Keisei Highway Bus bound for "Makuhari Shintoshin, Inagekaigan St. and Chiba-chuo". This bus leaves from the Airport Bus Station No. 5 of the Narita Airport Terminal 1, and from the Airport Bus Station No. 12 of the Narita Airport Terminal 2. You need to purchase your ticket at the Bus Ticket Center at Narita Airport.

If you are coming from Haneda Airport, take the same Keisei Highway Bus bound for "Makuhari Shintoshin, Inagekaigan St. and Chiba-chuo" which leaves from Airport Bus Station No. 13 of the Haneda Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. You need to purchase ticket at the Limousine Bus Ticket Center or from the vending machine at Haneda Airport.

These two highway buses take you first to "Kaihimmakuhari Station", "Mhakuhari Messe Chuo (Central)." Next, the buses stop at designated spots in front of various hotels around Makuhari Messe Convention and Exhibition Center.

You can also travel by train from Chiba station to Makuhari. To get to Chiba Station, take the JR Narita Rapid Train from Narita International Airport (Another option is to take the JR Narita Express Train; this train has only reserved seats, which cost an additional 1,070 JPY). The journey from Narita Airport to Chiba Station takes 40 minutes. From Chiba Station, take the JR Sobu Line. This line will take you to Makuharihongo Station in 10 minutes (5 stations).

From Tokyo to Makuhari

From Tokyo station, the simplest way to reach Makuhari is to take the JR Keiyo Line. The rapid train takes you directly to Kaihimmakuhari Station in 30 minutes (550 JPY). The train car has two red stripes on a steel grey body. Do not take the train with orange stripes (Musashino Line).

To get to Makuharihongo Station from Tokyo Station, first go to Akihabara Station by taking the JR Yamanote Line or JR Keihin-Tohoku Line (2 stations; 5minutes). This service runs every ten minutes between 4:50am and midnight. Once you arrive at Akihabara Station, follow passenger instruction and change to the JR Sobu Line, heading for "Funabashi" or "Chiba". This will take you to Makuharihongo Station. This journey takes 40minutes.

To reach the Congress Venue

To reach the Kanda University of International Studies, you can take city buses from JR Makuharihongo Station. In front of the Makuharihongo Station, there is a relatively small bus terminal. Here, the city bus Maku-21 (in Japanese; 幕21) leaves from bus stop No. 6. This bus will take you to the bus stop in front of the Kanda University of International Studies.
Please be noted the Line Maku-21 has only one or two buses per hour.
If you take a taxi from Makuharihongo Station, it will cost 1,300-1,500 JPY to reach Kanda University of International Studies.

If you are coming from Makuhari Station of Keisei Line, you will need to walk for 15 minutes to the Kanda University of International Studies. Please remember that in Japan, the daytime summer temperatures are often over 35℃ and humidity is almost rainforest-level. So please be careful to avoid heatstroke.
If you take a taxi from Kaihimmakuhari Station, it will take just 5 minitues and cost approximately 800 JPY to reach Kanda University of Internatinal Studies. The Access map to the Kanda University of International Studies.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Makuhari Messe Convention and Exhibition Center. The railway station closest to this center is JR Kaihimmakuhari Station of Keiyo Line.
From Kaihimmakuhari Station, it takes 5 minutes to reach to the Makuhari Messe.
From Tokyo Station, there is an hourly Express Bus to Makuhari Messe. This bus leaves from Tokyo Station in front of Yaesu Chuo Exit. For timetables and information, click here.

Please show the driver your Congress Name Card when you get on a bus.

If you are coming from Airport directly to Makuhari Messe, take the Keisei Highway Bus bound for "Makuhari Shintoshin, Inagekaigan St. and Chiba-chuo," as mentioned above, and get off at the bus stop "Makuhari Messe Chuo (Center)." For details and maps, see the Makuhari Messe website.
