The Department of Greek and Latin Classics is concerned with the study and research of Greek and Latin, and all literary materials written in these languages. Our reading materials cover not only literary works, but also texts related to history and philosophy. Thus our field may have some overlap with that of Philosophy, Occidental History, and History of Western Art. Our study is the foundation of various sciences, since classical Greek and Latin have played a major role in shaping the language and culture of Western countries.
