Research Areas

Shiite Thought Studies

1) History of Shiism

Originally focused on the thought of the Ismaili sect of the Shiites, but since the 2000s, I have also been researching the doctrines and developments of the Druze and Nusayri (Alawite) sects, which possess distinct teachings such as the concept of reincarnation.

2) History of Early Islamic Thought

Kikuchi studies how various thoughts based on Islam transformed from the 7th century, during the religion's formative period, until around the 11th century, when classical Islam was established, primarily from the perspective of Shia-affiliated groups.
