Social Psychology

1) Person Perception, Stereotypes, and Moral Judgment

This research explores the mental mechanisms involved in the process of understanding others’ personalities, related factors, and the role of stereotypes in that process. Furthermore, regarding this process, the research proposes a model in which “person perception” is not merely an information-processing procedure but a process of making moral judgments by focusing on others' mental states.

2) Science and Technology ELSI and RRI

The research examines the ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) raised by advancements in science and technology. It further explores the role of responsible research and innovation (RRI) that experts should uphold in light of these challenges. Karasawa is also involved in projects extending these discussions to the technological implementation in smart cities and the circular economy.
