Main Research Area: Ancient Greek History
1) Research on the History of Ancient Greek Democracy
Hashiba studies how democracy (demokratia) emerged in the city-states (poleis) of ancient Greece and how it was received in later periods.
2) Research on Historical Narratives in Ancient Greece
He explores how the intellectual activity of historiography originated in the ancient Greek world and what characteristics it had in comparison to other traditions of historical writing.
