1) Belonging and Membership of Migrants in Contemporary Japan, and Mechanisms of Inclusion and Exclusion
Takaya is interested in how migrants create spaces of belonging in contemporary Japan and how their membership is structured in relation to various factors such as gender, class, and legal status. By focusing on these aspects of belonging and membership, she also explores the mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion of migrants in Japan.
2) Research on Migration Policy
She is conducting research on the processes and logic of immigration policy in contemporary Japan. Takaya is also interested in the social changes that are observed through shifts in immigration policies.
