1) Research subject: Women at the University of Tokyo (early Meiji period–1945)
Although Tokyo Imperial University (the University of Tokyo) did not formally open its doors to women until 1946, it was not entirely closed to them, except for regular undergraduate admission. While their numbers were limited, women were admitted as auditors and graduate students, and some were also employed as staff, primarily in auxiliary roles. This research focuses on these individuals.
