Research Areas

1) Ancient Japanese History

History of Japan from fifth century to twelfth century

2) Ritsuryō System, Ancient Imperial System, Regency Government

This relationship has enabled a clearer understanding of the early forms of the ancient imperial system, allowing for a closer examination of its distinctive features. I examine the Heian period as a developed stage of the ancient ritsuryō system, elucidating the political and fiscal management of the regency government centered around Fujiwara no Michinaga. In my comparative research on the ritsuryō system, I am currently analyzing the recently discovered Northern Song Tiansheng decree and conducting studies related to Asian and Chinese history, including research on the Otani documents obtained by the Otani Expedition from Turfan.
