1) Early Modern Archaeology
From the late 16th century, Japan entered a new historical stage known as the early modern period. This research aims to archaeologically elucidate this era, focusing on Edo (now Tokyo), the central city of the period, and the samurai class, who became the ruling elite of the time.
2) Ceramic Distribution and Consumption
This research centers on the analysis of ceramics excavated from Asia and Europe to evaluate their distribution and consumption patterns from social, cultural, and economic perspectives, especially focusing on Japan from the 16th to 19th century.
