Research Areas

(1) Theoretical Linguistics (Generative Grammar Theory, Syntax)

Investigating cross-linguistic variation in grammatical rules, primarily through comparisons between Japanese and English. In particular, focusing on the rules governing word movement and deletion (ellipsis) in sentences, examining when specific constructions are permitted or disallowed in each language. Additionally, she is interested in questions related to language acquisition, such as how children acquire the grammatical rules of their native language and how children’s grammar differs from adult grammar.
