We, the University of Tokyo, will hold an international conference entitled "Consent and Decision concerning Life and Death." Its aim is to analyze and discuss some issues about consent and decision in medical scenes from both the theoretical and practical points of view. In part 1 (11th December), theoretical problems regarding uncertainty that restricts our consent and decision are thoroughly and philosophically examined considering epistemic limits, probability, and problems of medical decision. In part 2 (12th December), a panel of experts will discuss practical issues of medical scenes, which are concerned with medical decision analysis, informed consent, medical malpractice suits, and medical economics. Everyone is welcome.
