Takaaki Matsui

Project Researcher, Center for Evolving Humanities, Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology, The University of Tokyo. He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Tokyo in 2021. Before his current appointment, he held positions as a Project Researcher (JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow) at the Graduate School of Sociology, Hitotsubashi University, and as a Researcher at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba.
His research is in philosophy, with a focus on philosophy of language, conceptual engineering, social ontology, and the history of analytic philosophy. He is a co-author of Conceptual Engineering: Methodological and Metaphilosophical Issues (ed. Piotr Stalmaszczyk, Brill/Mentis, 2024). His other publications include “Grounds and Anchors in Social Construction” (Synthese 206 (242), 2025), “Carnap, Esperanto, and Language Engineering” (Erkenntnis, 2024), and “Inferentialism and Semantic Externalism: A Neglected Debate between Sellars and Putnam” (The British Journal for the History of Philosophy 29(1), 2021).
