Comment | These artifacts were excavated together from a burial pit from the second half of the Final Jomon period. Here, some stoneware were found with decorative shallow bowls and deep bowls of the Nusamai type. Most of these stoneware were side scrapers, not including stone arrowheads. Perhaps the difference in grave goods, as seen here, is a reflection of gender differences. A side scraper made of flat flakes of black andesite was also found. Side scrapers and flat flakes like this were often buried in tombs during this period. |
