Comment | These artifacts were excavated from a burial pit from the second half of the Final Jomon period, which included a set of jade beads and three small pieces of pottery. The left one is a Nusamai type of pottery, the right one is an Ohora C2 jar-shaped type of pottery, and the center is an eclectic style of pottery of both the previously mentioned types. The comma-shaped beads were made from jade obtained from Itoigawa in the Niigata prefecture. The pottery of the Ohora C2 type was also made from the Tohoku region and southern Hokkaido. These artifacts indicate the extent of the cultural exchange area. |
