Comment | This is a typical example of “Rouletted Pattern Pottery Group Ⅰ from the Tokoro River Estuary Site.” Since this type of pottery was unearthed from a stratum above Group Ⅱ, it was adopted in the first half of the Middle Jomon period. Its key features are that many from Group Ⅱ are larger than Group Ⅰ, they have puncture marks decorated by square bars or bamboo tube-shaped tools instead of round puncture marks in the rim, and there are four triangular projections on the rim. |
