About the Orok language

The Orok language belongs to the Nanai subgroup of the Tungus branch of the Manchu-Tungus family of languages.

Where the speakers live

Most of the Oroks live in the Poronay and Nogliki districts of the Sakhalin region (Sakhalin Island) and also on the Hokkaido Island in Japan.
