About the Nivkh language

The Nivkh language belongs to the Paleo-Asiatic group of languages.

Where the speakers live

Most of Nivkhs live in the settlement of Aleyevka on the Amur River, as well as in the cities of Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Oha and Nikolayevsk-on-Amur. They live also on the Sakhalin Island in the settlements of Nekrasovka and Nogliki in North Sakhalin and in the Poronay district of South Sakhalin.
