Botlikh belongs to the North-Caucasian linguistic family, Nakh-Daghestanian (East Caucasian) group, Andic (< Avar-Andic-Tsezic) subgroup.

Where the speakers live

In the Republic of Daghestan the Botlikhs live in the Botlikh district in 2 auls (settlements): Botlikh (the administrative centre of the district) and Miarsu.
