Kabuki Theatre in Ginza

This is a message for those who are interested in Kabuki. If you'd like to see a Kabuki performance we will assist you to get stand-by tickets on July 20th at the historical Kabukiza theatre in Ginza. You can find details below. 


If you like to enjoy Japanese traditional theatre KABUKI, two performances are held every day at 11:00 AM and at 4:30 PM in the historical Kabukiza theatre (Ginza). Although most of the tickets are already sold out, you still have a chance to watch with STAND-BY tickets.
If you wish to try and need help, we will support and guide you on 20th July in the morning.

・Stand-by ticket sales start 30 minutes prior to performance.
・There are 90 seats and 60 standing places (on the 4th floor).

On Friday 20th July, our colleague, Dr. Hirano (Emiko), will be waiting for you in front of the Kabukiza Theatre (Ginza) from 9:45 AM and assist you. Since the system is "first-come-first-served basis", the earlier bird can get the better seat. Ticket-sales start at 10:30 AM. However, we strongly recommend you come before 10 AM. (There are benches where you can be seated and wait).

1st act: 1,000 yen
1st & 2nd acts: 2,500 yen (1,000+1,500)
1st & 2nd & 3rd acts: 4,000 yen (1,000+1,500+1,500)
・English earphone guide is available: 650 yen (+1,000 yen deposit)

・You cannot purchase tickets skipping acts, such as the 1&3 acts at once.
・You cannot purchase tickets for the 2nd act without buying the 1st act at 10:30 am (until 11:15 am).
・If you wish to watch only the 2nd or the 3rd act, ticket-sales start at 11:15 am and 12:40 am for each. You can purchase tickets for the 2nd & 3rd acts together at 11:15 am.

Access to Kabukiza Theatre (Ginza):
Public Transportation (by JR and Subway):
1) SUBWAY: Hibiya Line or Asakusa Line, "Higashi Ginza" Station. Exit 3- direct access to the theatre from the subway station.
2) SUBWAY: Ginza Line, Marunouchi Line, Hibiya Line, "Ginza" Station. Exit A6 – 5-minute walk.
3) JR and SUBWAY: "Tokyo" Station. 10 minutes by taxi.

Information about performances:

*If you like to watch Kabuki with seats secured in another new theatre (National Theatre in Hanzomon) , we will also support you for purchasing tickets.
Ticket prices are 4,000 yen or 1,800 yen. Please ask Emiko for further information.
