Comment | Glass beads were usually found in burial pits of the Late Epi-Jomon period. There were two kinds of beads found at the Tokoro River Estuary Site: dark blue beads and smaller light blue beads. Both were excavated from different tombs and the dark blue beads were placed in the eye sockets of the burial pit remains. Although it is unknown where these glass beads were made, a chemical analysis suggests that the raw material is from China, indicating the existence of widespread exchanges at the time. |
