CommentThese artifacts were excavated together from a burial pit from the first half of the Epi-Jomon period. As the pottery unearthed from the bottom of the burial pit (front right) is from the early stages of Utsunai Ⅱa type or Utsunai Ⅱb type pottery, this burial pit is considered to be from the last stage of the Early Epi-Jomon period to the Middle Epi-Jomon period. Stoneware, such as arrowheads and side scrapers, were also found in this pit. Considering ornaments, both flat amber beads and cylindrical shale beads were buried in tombs during these periods. Incidentally, there were the Motomachi 2 type pottery (back right), which is older than the Utsunai type, also unearthed from the fill of this burial pit.
