CommentIn the middle Late Jomon period, cord-marking decorations with erased areas became popular around the Kanto, Tohoku and Hokkaido areas. Hokkema type pottery spread throughout Hokkaido during this period, and has characteristic decoration patterns such as lines of notches in the rim and body, and crosswise herring-bone cord-markings.
