1877 NISHI Ama-ne translates Haven's "Mental Philosophy including Intellect, Sensibilities, and Will" into Japanese. "SHINRIGAKU".
1877 TOYAMA Masakazu lectures "Mental Philosophy" at Univ. of TOKYO.(`1889). Title of lecture "SHINRIGAKU"
1883 MOTORA Yujiro goes to Boston Univ., studying moral philosophy.
1885 MOTORA goes to Johns Hopkins Univ., supervised by Hall.
ARIGA Nagao translates and arranges Sully's "Outlines of psychology" into Japanese. "KYOIKU-TEKIYO-SHINRIGAKU" means Psychology applied to the Education
1887 Publication of "Dermal sensitiveness to gradual pressure changes" by Hall and MOTORA in American Journal of Psychology, Vol.1. First publication of Psychological study by Japanese.
1888 First Ph.D. in psychology as Japanese awarded to MOTORA by Johns Hopkins Univ.
MOTORA comes back JAPAN
Introduction of the "new" psychology with the paper "Today's American Psychology" by MOTORA. The paper also introduces Dewey's Pedagogy.
MOTORA lectures "Psychophysics" at Univ. of TOKYO
1889 Univ. of TOKYO purchases some equipments for psychological experiment.
MOTORA starts the lecture of psychology at Univ. of TOKYO.
1890 Publication of "SHINRIGAKU", what means psychology, First Japanese psychology text book by MOTORA.
MOTORA appointed first professor of psychology at department of philosophy, Univ. of TOKYO.
1896 MATSUMOTO Matataro goes to the Yale Univ., supervised by Scripture.
1897 Two rooms assigned for Psychological lecture and experiment at Univ. of TOKYO
MATSUMOTO goes to University of Leipzig, supervised by Wundt.

First Japanese Ph.D. in psychology awarded to MATSUMOTO by Univ. of TOKYO
1900 First Japanese attendance to International Congress of Psychology(4th, at Paris). TANIMOTO Tomeri presents "History of Japanese Psychology"
MATSUMOTO comes back Japan, appointed professor at Higher Teacher's College, lectures experimental psychology etc.
1901 MATSUMOTO begins some lectures of psychology at Univ. of TOKYO, uses Wundt's " The principle of physiological psychology".
1902 FUKURAI Tomokichi translated James's "Psychology; Briefer course" into Japanese. "SHINRIGAKU SEIGI"
1903 MOTORA establishes first Japanese psychological laboratory(also first in Asia) at Univ. of TOKYO with MATSUMOTO's corporation.
1905 MOTORA presents "Concepts of EGO in Eastern-Asian Philosophy" at the 5th International Congress of Psychology(at Rome).
First B.A. in psychology awarded to KUWATA, KAZAMI, and other 5 students by Univ. of TOKYO.
1906 MATSUMOTO appointed first professor of psychology at independent department of psychology, Univ. of KYOTO.
1908 MATSUMOTO establishes second Japanese psychological laboratory at Univ. of KYOTO
FUKURAI appointed associate professor of psychology at department of philosophy, Univ. of TOKYO.
1909 UENO Yoichi and some post graduate students start a seminary of psychology for citizens.
1910 Publication of "Photo book of psychological experiment" by Univ. of TOKYO.
1911 Publication of "Ein Experiment zur Einubung von Aufmerksamkeit(Training for attention)" by MOTORA in Zeitschrift fur Kinderforschung, Vol.16. First publication of Japanese clinical/disabled psychology.
1912 First publication of semi-academic Journal of Psychology "SHINRI KENKYU"(means Study of Mind)(terminated in 1925)
First Ph.D. awarded to Japanese woman, ARAI Tsuruko by Columbia Univ. in psychology, supervised by Thorndike.
