Post Conference Tour: Overnight at the Sojiji Zen Temple

This overnight tour provides participants of the Congress with a good opportunity to experience Zazen (cross-legged sitting) at a well-known Zen temple Sojiji. Zen monks lead a religious and ascetic life at a temple, practicing Zazen. At the same time, they are well known for serving a special dish called Shojin. This optional tour will

Capacity 40 persons(accepted in order of application)
Fee 6,000 Yen per person, including one way transportation and two meals.

Tentative Schedule:
First day (March 30):
18:30 Gathering at Takanawa Prince Hotel Main Entrance after the closing
ceremony. A bus will take all participants to Sojiji located in Yokohama
19:30 Arrival at Sojiji
20:00 Shojin Vegetarian Dinner
21:00 Brief orientation for the nextday's schedule
21:10 Light out

Second day (March 31):
4:00 Waking up
4:30 Zazen meditation util 5:00
5:00 Otsutome (participation in morning service)
7:00 Visit at the main hall (hondo) and around
7:30 Breakfast
8:30 Sermon by a monk for an hour (with brief English translation)
10:00 Break-up at the temple, and you are responsible for your own return
transportation to Tokyo (or airport)
