ナタシャ・ゲルケは、ポスト社会主義時代のポーランド語文学を代表する作家の一人ですが、1980年代半ば西ドイツへ移住し、現在はドイツとネパールに暮らしながら創作しています。ポーランドで開催される「クリエイティヴ・ライティング」のワークショップにも毎年講師として招待されており、その作品はドイツ語や英語に翻訳されています。今回は作品の朗読に加え、ご自身について、またご自身の作品について語っていただきます。たいへん珍しい機会ですので、ふるってご来聴ください。

About the author

Natasza Goerke was born in Poznań in 1960. She studied Polish at Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Oriental Languages at Jagiellonioan University in Kraków. In the mid-1980s she emigrated from Poland and, after having lived for a time in Asia, she took up residence in Hamburg, Germany. She has published three books in Polish and two collections in German translation, both of which received critical acclaim. Her stories have appeared in numerous magazines in Poland and émigré press, with translations appearing in magazines and anthologies in Slovenian, Macedonian, Serbo-Croatian, Flemish, German, and English (The Eagle and the Crow, Serpent’s Tail, 1996). In 1993 she received the Czas Kultury Prize and the 1995 she was awarded a six-month stipendium at the prestigious Akademie Schloss Solitude outside of Stuttgart, the only Polish writer thus far to have received this distinction.
