Vladimir Paperni graduated at the Tartu University(MA & PhD). From1991 teach the Russian Literature and the Theory of Literature at the Department of Hebrew and Comparative Literature of the University of Haifa. He is the author of numerous scientific works on history and poetics of the Russian Literature of the 19-th and of the beginning of the 20-th centuries, and especially on creative work of Pushkin, Gogol, Lev Tolstoy, Blok, Andrey Bely, and Vyacheslav Ivanov. His other works are dedicated to the Russian religious thought of the beginning of 20-th century(especially to philosophies of Lev Tolstoy and Lev Shestov) and to Russian-Jewish cultural interactions.
