Field Survey, data collection, and analysis |
The objective of this research project is to analyze the housing formation and urban spatial structure in cities of Turkey using GIS. The scope of the analyses includes the spatial relationship between the road network and urban facilities such as Islamic temples, the spatial relationship between the public space and houses, and the spatial structure of the collection of houses. The research necessarily relates to the cultural and living behavior of study areas. In the fiscal year of 1997, the group collected spatial data including three-dimensional spatial information and converted them to digital data, so that GIS and other spatial analyzer system can be applied. To do so, the group will conduct a field survey in Turkish cities, such as Istanbul, Izmir, Balikesir, Bursa, Safranbol, Sivas and Ankara.
