Appearance of Post-revolutionary Intellectuals in Iran„ŸLife
and Works of M. Makhmalbaf, a famous film-maker

Iran's recent changes starting from the Presidential election of May 1997 were first and foremost brought about by new generations, which we can call "revolutionary" or "post-revolutionary" generations. It is also noteworthy that a number of their "intellectual champions" have recently appeared from among the successful film-makers of Iran.

In this preliminary report treating a famous film-maker M. Makhmalbaf as a typical Post-revolutionary intellectural in Iran, we presented a rough sketch of his life, works and thoughts throuth some of his films, books including collections of his scenario and those of critiques on his works, and magazines of Iranian films, most notably the Persian magazine "Film", which is one of the most influential and important of that kind. In this way we tried to draw a overall map of M. Makhmalbaf's world of labyrinth, sometimes citing his own words and writings.
